It was an honour and a privilege to be asked to judge the Great Taste Awards yesterday at the Guild of Fine Food’s London HQ. I joined an army of over 200 judges sifting through over 12 thousand entries over the course of 70 days.
I blind tasted well over 50 products from oils to ice cream, saffron to sausages. It was a fun day, and interesting to be on the other side of the questions for a change! I have to mention that I thought the event very well organised and I met some really interesting people from across the food and drink sector. Suffice to say, I didn't need to have dinner that evening.
With the number of entries the competition is pretty hot, but for any artisan food producers, the recognition that you gain and the feedback you receive from a whole host of very professional fine food experts is worth the entry fee and effort in applying.
